12) An Introduction to ABC’s ASN/SEND Resources

An introduction to the use of ABC resources in ASN/SEND settings-
with examples of the philosophy, lesson plans, interactives and teaching aids,
and advice and adaptations for children with ASD, ADHD and physical disability.
The training will introduce both ABC EY Musicality resources and Primary Online Website.

Background Theory
13) 8-D Framework for Individual Assessment
and Intervention in ASN/SEND and Early Years
DATES TBA
In a small class of ASN children, each child is unique and may possess
a different profile of abilities and strengths and face a different blend of challenges.
How can we best approach creative music activities and other work with such groups?
This training offers an introduction to a conceptual framework developed by
ABC Music using 8 dimensions to assess the challenges an individual child may
face in taking part in an activity- with a range of intervention strategies provided
for each dimension to help every child reach their full potential.
While this work was formulated with ASN children in mind, it of course applies equally to mainstream children,
of any age, and indeed to all of us- as we all possess a different blend of strengthand weaknesses.
We are finding this approach is being found extremely useful in Early Years settings dealing with children
recovering from the impacts of the pandemic and lockdown.

14 A Theoretical Framework for Creativity in (Music) Education

An introduction to the theoretical base derived through 20-years of Action Research
by ABC Founders, jazz musicians and Medical Doctors Phil and Tom Bancroft- in an
interactive session ending in a discussion of how this theoretical base might be applied
to your own artistic or teaching practice.
